There have not been many moments we spend together alone during my childhood.
Yet, I vividly remember the night we drove back home from a market when I was about four.

It was foggy, humid; you were nervous from not knowing which road to take.
I felt your anxiety, yet the black leather seats of your Mercedes comforted me.

are the colours I see when I think of this memory;

Driving along a narrow road up-hill we finally recognized a place of familiarity:
the horse club in our village that I entered only when we kids marched the Saint Martin's parade, eating Stockbrot at the big fire.

Relieved from the hassle we smiled at each other, being almost back home.
